August Cosmic Month Ahead

Welcome to the month of August, and the final month of summer here in the northern hemisphere.

The energy of the Season of Summer is all about expanding and blooming.

Summer brings high energy, celebration, abundance, confidence and courage. This is the time to step into your light and own whom you were always meant to be.

The focus is external, fuelled by a passionate inner fire. Celebrate, have fun, and experience anything and everything during this time.

We begin the month with the Wheel of the Year festival of Lammas, also known as Lughnasadh. The festival of Lammas marks the annual wheat harvest and the first of three harvest festivals of the year for many Northern Hemisphere countries.

Astrologically, this month we have three personal planets, Mercury, Venus and Mars, changing signs. As Mercury moves into Virgo, our attention to detail is increased, while Venus in Leo encourages us to embrace some luxury in our lives. Later in the month, Mars enters Gemini and things get busy…..and they stay busy for an extended time when Mars goes retrograde in October, keeping Mars in Gemini longer than usual.

The full Moon in Aquarius should be a lot less prickly than last months Super Full Moon in Capricorn. Phew!

As the Sun enters Virgo, we are encouraged to get organised.

Our only retrograde planet this month is Uranus, and this planet of change could bring with it an air of rebellion!.

And finally, we end the month with a new Moon in Virgo, and foundations, systems, processes and boundaries become the main focus as we set our intentions for the cycle head.

Lammas

1st August

The festival of Lammas marks the annual wheat harvest and the first of three harvest festivals of the year for many Northern Hemisphere countries. Also known as Lughnasadh, it is a pagan festival of Celtic origin. Lammas takes place around 1st of August. However, astrologically Lammas is the point when the Sun is at 15 degrees in the sign of Leo.

Mars enters Gemini - Busy, busy, busy

20th August 2022 - 25th March 2023

Mars is the planet of action, energy and desire.

You will notice Mars is spending a long time in Gemini, so we get plenty of time to get comfortable with this energy. The reason for the extended length is due to Mars retrograde in October until January 2023.

When Mars is in Gemini, the energy is restless, and attention spans are short. This makes it the perfect time for social interactions, fast talking conversations, and lots of activity and variety.

Uranus Retrograde - Rebellion

24th August - 22nd January 2023

Uranus is the plant of change.

When in retrograde, Uranus gets a bit unpredictable and reckless. This is a planet that loves to bring about change, but in retrograde this influence slows down. This is therefore a good time to adjust to the changes that have already happened. Stop fighting things you wish hadn’t taken place, and instead learn how to go with the flow and be flexible. This can be a frustrating time, making you feel like you want to rebel from the stuckness brought about by this energy.

In the sign of Taurus, the stuckness we may feel could be connected to money and material things.

Mercury enters Libra - Grace and balance

26th August - 29th October

Mercury is the planet of communication, intelligence and travel.

You will notice that Mercury stays in Libra for a longer time than normal. This is because Mercury goes retrograde in Libra on 10th September.

When Mercury is in Libra, there is an element of grace, balance and tact when interacting with others. It’s important not to enter into any arguments in an attempt to achieve balance. However, it is a good time for negotiations and persuading others to see things your way. There may be a lack of decisiveness during this time, so be aware of things taking too much time.
