How to Create a Free Birth Chart
How to Create a Free Birth Chart
What is a Birth Chart?
A birth chart is basically a map of the sky at the time you were born.
It shows the positions of the Sun, Moon and Planets relative to the stars as seen from Earth.
This information is so unique that it forms a sort of cosmic finger print of you and your life.
Your birth chart, also known as a natal chart, is determined by the date, time and place you were born. This is the information specific to you, and no one else.
For the remainder of this article, I will refer to your birth chart as your natal chart, as this is the terminology I prefer, but the terms are interchangeable.
Is Your Free Natal Chart Accurate?
There are many sites online where you can get free natal charts, and some are more accurate than others.
The accuracy is connected where they get their data, especially when it comes to timezones and daylight saving.
Also, there are numerous settings and options for chart generation, and each one will provide you with a different chart. This is down to the system of astrology being used, of which there are many.
The way to ensure your chart is as accurate as possible is to:
- Use a reputable site
- Stick to one chart type expecially when you start out
Why You Should Start with Astro.com
My top site recommendation for a free natal chart is astro.com. This site was stated in 1996 by a small Swiss company named Astrodienst. This all happened before Google, YouTube and Facebook! Yes, there was a time before those things.
It's length of time since inception, and the quality of authors who are among the world's best astrologers, make it an excellent free resource.
If you want to check out another great free resource, look at astro-seek.com. I plan to talk about this site in future articles so watch this space.
What You Need to Create Your Natal Chart
To get an accurate natal chart, you need the following:
- Date of Birth
- Time of Birth
Place of Birth
What if you don't know your birth time?
Without your time of birth, you lose some accuracy in your natal chart. Some information can be worked out, while others are much more problematic.
If you don't know your time of birth then check out my article; Don't Know Your Time of Birth?
