The September Full Moon in Pisces | Full Moon Astrology
On 10th September, we celebrate a full Moon in Pisces by embracing this emotional and intuitive water energy and allowing it to support our lives by reinforcing our emotional strength.
Dealing with the emotional stuff is often tough, but it’s also essential that we regularly connect with our emotional landscape to see what’s going on.
If you remain too detached from your emotions, things are processed from a logical point of view, and the outcomes can be cold and unfeeling.
However, coming from a place of too much emotional connection can mean that decisions and choices are influenced by the emotional undercurrent at the time.

Working with Full Moon Energy
The full Moon is about celebration, completion, reflection and forgiveness. It is the energetic climax of the lunar cycle, and if can provide us with an intense and complex experience.
I like to use full Moon energy in two main ways:
- Reflection - I consider and contemplate my journey since the new Moon, where I set my intentions and wishes for the cycle ahead. This is a great time to review those goals and dreams and consider what needs to be done differently.
- Preparation for Release - As I contemplate my journey and destination, I consider what is holding me back, no longer serving and keeping me stuck. The full Moon is a great time to prepare for releasing and letting go. I find that the energy of the Waning Gibbous Moon, just a few days after the full Moon event is the best time to begin the releasing process.
Full Moon energy gives us the chance to ask those difficult questions and consider our blocks to success. As the light of the full Moon illuminates the world around us, there is also an internal illumination happening, and often things once hidden come to the surface.
Is This Spiritual Mumbo Jumbo?
Working with the Moon may seem a bit like spiritual woo-woo to many, but it’s an ancient practice that still has a place in our modern world.
I love a bit of woo, but at the same time I’m a very logical and practical person who strives to take astrological principles and give them a useful, goal orientated application to my life.
This is how I teach working with the Moon inside my Moon Portal Online Membership.
What’s Pisces Got to Do With Things?
Each full Moon takes place in a different sign of the zodiac, and that sign of the zodiac themes the lunar energies we work with during the full Moon event.
We can use the theme of the full Moon to explore the specific life area connected to that zodiac sign, and look at where we are currently blocked, stuck or unmoving in that area.
In the sign of Pisces, this full Moon is emotional, intuitive and compassionate. As a water sign, Pisces is all about feelings and emotions. When we look at how water appears in nature, we can see it as a raging torrent, babbling brook, a dark lake or vast ocean. Our emotional landscape can also vary this much too.
To work with the full Moon, it’s important to embrace the theme of Pisces and consider how that theme applies to your life right now.
Reinforcing Emotional Strength with the Pisces Moon
It’s important to make time for your spiritual, intuitive, receptive and guided side to come through. By allowing this to be a regular part of your life, it is possible to experience greater calm, peace and flow.
During this full Moon in Pisces, assess the balance between your emotional needs and your responsibilities, and make any adjustments needed to find emotional stability and strength.
Inside the Moon Portal this month, we use divination, journaling, goal setting and Waning Moon releasing to explore this theme.
Working with full Moon energy is all about exploring where you can make the most positive and beneficial changes in your life which can only be done if we take a moment to reflect on the journey so far, where we are right now, and the destination we are aiming for.
Tuning in to the Full Moon
My full Moon practice is 50% listening and 50% action taking.
The listening part involves being aware of the energies of the full Moon, noticing how I feel, and being curious about the thoughts and ideas that come to mind. I slow down and allow myself to think and ponder during this time. I also journal……. a lot……. and find noting down anything that comes to mind helpful later on.
The action taking part is about reflecting on where I am, considering what is keeping me stuck, creating a list of things I would like to release and let go of, and putting into place a set of action steps to make it happen once the Moon begins to wane.
Full Moon energy for me is usually intense. I was born just before a full Moon so it’s a vibe I enjoy. I often get quite hyper, I struggle to focus on one thing at a time, and I usually crash at the other side and need extra naps to recharge. I also sleep less on the night of a full Moon, and in fact, studies have shown that most people sleep around 1 hour less at a full Moon and 1 hour more at a new Moon.

I Don’t Have Time for All This Moon Stuff!
I live a busy life, and the amount of time I can dedicate to my lunar practice varies Moon to Moon.
At the very least, I spend 30-60 minutes with my Tarot Cards to tune into the lunar theme and connect to the guidance and support available at this time.
If I have more time, I spend it journaling, exploring, mapping out goals, creating to do lists, and talking to like-minded people about what’s coming up for me. I may even start to dive into some reading, researching or learning. It all depends on where I’m guided and how much time I’ve got.
I see my lunar practice as a form of self care. By taking some time for myself at each full Moon and embracing this energetic climax point, I’m able to connect with myself and explore my emotional, mental and physical needs.
I know how important it is for me to check in with myself on a regular basis, especially if I want to function at my best.
The Moon gives me a self-care calendar to work with and use to my advantage. This is just one of the many reasons I love working with the Moon.
