My February Full Moon in Virgo Ritual

There is a way that I can judge if my life is out of balance and it involves my Full Moon and New Moon Rituals.

Every month I block off at least 4-5 hours, twice a month to perform my Full Moon and New Moon rituals. This time is important as I get to check in with myself and dedicate time to my soul work and moon practices.

If my life is out of balance I find that I start to make excuses about having the time to do this……and that’s where I make sure that it happens as I’m obviously in need of the time more than usual.

Yesterday (19th February) was the Super Full Moon in Virgo and I blocked off time in my calendar from mid-afternoon until bedtime. In this article I want to share with you what I get up to and why it’s so important for me.

Full Disclosure: Each month I create a Full Moon Guide and Workbook for the members of the Magickal Moon Club and it’s this guide that I use as the basis of my personal ritual work.

The Urge to Be Active

Before the Full Moon was exact the lead up to the Moon in Virgo had me craving some physical activity. I didn’t have anything specific in mind so after I’d finished my mornings work I headed out for an hours walk with my audiobook.

If you’re feeling the urge to improve your health and fitness then go with it right now as Virgo is here to support you as you create space in your routine for the things which improve your life.

Spiritual Bath

I was blessed with a gorgeous gift of spiritual bath salts and herbs after hosting a live Moon Workshop over the previous weekend and I couldn’t wait to use them for my Full Moon Spiritual Bath.

What is a Spiritual Bath?

Basically it’s a soak in the tub with the purpose of cleansing both your body and aura which in turn energetically cleanses your personal energy. It’s a bit like hitting factory reset on your phone.

Why should you take a Spiritual Bath?

As you come into contact with people in your day to day life their energies, vibrations and frequencies all impact your own energy field. Also, as we constantly put out our energies into the world we lose our energetic balance too. A spiritual bath helps to bring your energies back into balance which will in turn make you feel better.

My Spiritual Bath

In my bath I added:

  • Detox bath Salts from Crystal Moon Emporium Sunderland to help remove the impurities and toxins which have built up in my body over time
  • White Himalayan Rock Salt – For detoxification and mineral balance
  • Selection of herbs including Rose for relaxation, Lavender for calming and Chamomile for pain relief and relaxation
  • Crystals  Milky Quartz for stress relief, Citrine as a spiritual cleanser, Aventurine as an all round healing stone and energy unblocker, Carnelian for spiritual healing

Create my Sacred Space

A sacred space is just a pleasant environment without negative energies, and that can mean anything to you. Perhaps you want to be inside or maybe outside. It’s up to you.

I tend to use my bedroom as I can close the door for privacy and quiet and that’s where I create my altar. Plus my cat, Mr Schnaggles, loves being part of a good ritual.

At the moment I am still loving Danheim for my sacred space music. Check out the latest album on YouTube

Incense, Sage or something similar

If I feel the need, I will use Palo Santo to cleanse my environment. Last night, just lighting some incense was enough as I’d cleansed the room earlier in the week.

Decorate my Altar Space

I tend to have a bit of a rearrange of my Moon Altar Space and a tidy up. Sometimes I add new decorations or whatever I am drawn to do.

Last night I used my Moon Goddess from Lady Sparkle and my Galaxy Orb as the centrepieces on my altar space. Along with plenty of lights and candles of course.

I’ve added the Etsy link for Elin of Lady Sparkle Art for you to check our her amazing Goddesses. Elin hand makes and paints these amazing sculptures which are perfect for any altar space.

Check out Elin’s Etsy shop below.

Light my Full Moon Candle

Lighting a candle once I’ve created my sacred space signifies when I am about to dedicate quiet uninterrupted time to myself. On this Full Moon I was very very excited to use my Dragon’s Blood Candle from Michele Leathley of Shamballah. This stunning hand made candle was made on the January Full Moon lunar eclipse.

Michele makes all of her candles using crystal and Moon energy so I totally recommend checking her out.

Journaling is the foundation of my lunar practice, but it’s something I’ve always struggled with so I created a solution which then became The Magickal Moon Club.

The Moon wants us to look inside and do the internal work to improve our external lives. So it makes sense to journal and ask those difficult questions.

Each month I create a Full Moon Guide and Workbook and a New Moon Guide and Workbook both of which include journaling questions themed around the specific energies of the Full and New Moons.

The more I work with this practice the better things become and the easier my life is.

Art Journaling

This is a part of the ritual which I come back to over a period of a few days as it’s time consuming. Each month I create a two page spread in my art journal to collect together the most important aspects of that Full or New Moon phase.

You can check out my last Crafty Witch Post for the Full Moon in Leo Below.

Tarot and Oracle Card Spreads

As well as journaling prompts, I also design a Tarot and Oracle card spread to focus on the energy of the Full and New Moon’s for the month ahead. This is where I get to deep dive into a specific aspect of the theme of the Moon and in this case I was guided to look at Healing for this Full Moon in Virgo with the spread questions guided around spiritual healing and rituals.

For me this was a really interesting read, as I was drawn to select a deck I wouldn’t normally use for a spread. However The Life Design Cards by Lisa McLaughlin are practical which suits the sign of Virgo very well.

It doesn’t matter how many times I work through my Full and New Moon rituals I am still always surprised by the amazing synchronicities which appear.

Do you have a Full Moon ritual?

I would love to know what you love to practice each month.

Hi, I’m Sarah Cornforth and I'm a Creatrix of Magick.  I have never really considered myself creative or artistic as I'm too much of a perfectionist for that and I still find it hard to accept the word ‘artist’ as a title for myself. Initially creating art was a way of coping with the curveballs of life. When I draw, or paint or craft I feel calmer, my mind slows down to a pace I can cope with and life becomes easier. I also love working closely with the phases of the moon and the cycles of nature in everything I do as the benefits are huge. At the end of 2017 a dear friend nudged me in the direction of creating art to sell, and if it had been anyone else who encouraged me I would have thought they were mad. But this particular friend has a special gift. She can see the life purpose of others. So I listened and I took every piece of advice she had to give me.....and here I am, creating art, working with the Moon, teaching people how to heal through Mandala art, feeling happy and sharing what I love with the world. Thank you for joining me on this journey.
