Working with the New Moon

During the time of the New Moon, the Sun and Moon are in conjunction in the night’s sky combining their energies in the same sign of the zodiac.

A conjunction is a positive astrological relationship between two planets who occupy a space within 10 degrees of each other on an astrological chart. When the Sun and Moon are in conjunction with each other they appear to be in the same place in the sky when seen relative to the Earth. During this time the Sun’s light does not reflect off the surface of the Moon which why a New Moon is not visible in the sky.

Here we begin the new theme for the cycle ahead and this is determined by the zodiac sign the New Moon occurs under.

During the course of a calendar year we experience a new moon in every sign of the zodiac which allows us to come full circle in what is learned during that time.

Tune into the New Moon theme each cycle and be open to the possibilities it presents. This is the time for brainstorming ideas and making plans for the lunar cycle ahead. During this time it’s good to feel excited as we consider the new opportunities available to us.

The New Moon in Aquarius is happening at 4.21 degrees in Aquarius

The New Moon in the air sign of Aquarius could have us feeling a little spaced out. This is a social moon connected to community and feeling part of something so you may find that a comfortable place during this time is to be with others and being part of the bigger solution to the problems that surround us all.

Air Moons are great times for ideas, thoughts and plans and as the New Moon is a time of new beginnings you will find this a perfect time for brainstorming your ideas for this lunar cycle, the next 6 months and the remainder of the year. All sorts of amazing things could come up for you if you embrace the brainstorming process.

Setting our Intentions on the New Moon

As you set your intentions, wishes and goals this new moon consider your relationship with each wish, dream and goal.

  • Are you in alignment with what you want to achieve?
  • Are you setting yourself up for success or failure with your commitment to that intention?
  • Do you truly believe that you are capable of achieving everything you wish for?

These are hard questions which need to be asked.

Consider what you want to achieve between this New Moon in Aquarius and the energetic climax of the lunar cycle which is the Full Moon in Leo two weeks after the new moon.

Also look further ahead over the next 6 months when the Moon becomes full in the sign of Aquarius signifying the end of a cycle. This happens on 3rd August 2020.

Your wishes are made with a vibrational frequency and the energy you put behind each one send a message to the universe. This is why it’s so important to be in alignment with your goals, wish, intentions and dreams.

Inspiration and Guidance for this New Moon

I like to connect to the guidance of some of my favourite authors during the lunar cycle.

Here are a collection of quotes to support this New Moon.

Release and let go of attachment. Aquarius is the most detached sign of all. People get confused around Aquarius because although it’s the Water Bearer, it’s an Air Sign and as such tends to live a lot inside it’s own head. This has it’s drawbacks of course, but overall, the place where we have Aquarius in our chart is where we can be pragmatic, as opposed to overly emotional and too led by feelings only. Sometimes logic is called for.

Moonology – Yasmin Boland

Aquarius is about social connection and heightened communication. When the Moon travels through this high-frequency sign you might find yourself a bit frazzled. You may be prompted to contact old friends, got to networking events, or join a Meetup group.

Hi, I’m Sarah Cornforth and I'm a Creatrix of Magick.  I have never really considered myself creative or artistic as I'm too much of a perfectionist for that and I still find it hard to accept the word ‘artist’ as a title for myself. Initially creating art was a way of coping with the curveballs of life. When I draw, or paint or craft I feel calmer, my mind slows down to a pace I can cope with and life becomes easier. I also love working closely with the phases of the moon and the cycles of nature in everything I do as the benefits are huge. At the end of 2017 a dear friend nudged me in the direction of creating art to sell, and if it had been anyone else who encouraged me I would have thought they were mad. But this particular friend has a special gift. She can see the life purpose of others. So I listened and I took every piece of advice she had to give me.....and here I am, creating art, working with the Moon, teaching people how to heal through Mandala art, feeling happy and sharing what I love with the world. Thank you for joining me on this journey.
