The Moon Knows Who You Are
I’ve been working with the moon for many years now and I am constantly surprised by how she is able to continue to teach me about who I am. I love that my Lunar journey will last forever!
The Meaning of the Moon
The Moon represents our internal world, the things that we want and need, our emotional selves and how we react and adapt to situations. Therefore it is no surprise that working closely with the Moon tells us a lot about who we are and why we do the things we do. The Moon is basically our cosmic therapist asking us “So, how are you doing today?”
Let’s go through the ways the Moon knows who you are
Emotions and Feelings
Whether you bottle them up or feel and express everything, we all have emotions and feelings, And how these play out tells us a lot about our personality type, learned behaviours and how we react to stressful situations.
This makes sense as the Moon is ruled by Cancer who is all about feeling everything. But, why would we choose to feel everything when feeling stuff is often painful and uncomfortable? Because when we feel we heal. And when we don’t feel we just delay the inevitable so we may as well get it over and done with!
By regularly exploring our feelings and emotions we work through past traumas and experiences, support ourselves in the present moment and prepare ourselves for the future.
When we work with the Moon and reply to her questions we are encouraged to go deep to find the answers.
In a super-fast, hyper-connected world so much of our lives are spent at surface level, but the Moon doesn’t care for all of that. In my journal, I talk to the Moon to help me go deep and explore my inner world.
My conversation goes a little like this:
- THE MOON: “how are you doing today Sarah?”
- ME: “I’m fine”
- THE MOON: “Go deeper” she whispers
- ME: “Well, I have got a little something on my mind right now”
- THE MOON: “tell me everything,”
And I do…….
I’ve learned that working with the Moon stops me from staying on the surface where I feel safe and don’t have to feel. Instead, I regularly dive down into the often murky depths to explore where I’ve been, where I am right now and where I will be going in the future.
This deep dive isn’t always comfortable, but it is always worth it.
Expansion in All Areas of Your Life
The Moon passes through all twelve signs of the zodiac every cycle, and each year we experience and New Moon and a Full Moon in each sign too.
The brilliant thing about this repeating and predictable cycle is that we are given a structure to work with as we explore every area of our lives. This stops us from picking and choosing what we want to work with and skipping themes that make us feel uncomfortable or challenged.
As the New or Full Moon enters a sign it provides us with a theme to work with based on the characteristics of that sign.
I use this by diving deep (remember the previous point) into the guidance from each sign at every New and Full Moon to explore what comes up for me based on where I am in my life right now.
This means that when I explore the New Moon in the same sign the following year I will be 12 months older, 12 months wiser (I hope), I will have 12 months more life experience and my life and who I am will have changed because of it, even if things feel the same.
How we approach the lessons from the New Moon in Leo in 2020 and the lessons from the New Moon in Leo in 2021 will be different because our lives will be different a year apart.
Notice Changes and Patterns
The Moon is closely connected to our habits and behaviours and these things tell us a lot about what’s going on in our lives at any one time.
I don’t know about you, but I have a few bad habits I slip into when I’m stressed out. I don’t eat as well as I should, I often make silly purchases and depending on what’s going on with me I sometimes try to hide from the world in solitude for a while.
As I’ve worked with the Moon for a while now, I notice patterns in these behaviours. Some are connected to the lunar cycles and others are connected to life events. But all have a very similar signature which means they give me a heads up on when I’m starting to find life a bit challenging or I’m not managing my energy very well.
Noticing patterns tells us a lot about ourselves and being able to reduce how often we react negatively to challenging situations is really powerful stuff.
It’s not just about the hard stuff either! There is nothing more satisfying than noticing positive patterns in our lives, especially if it’s replaced a more negative one, as that’s personal growth and evolution right there! This is something for you to acknowledge about yourself on the next Full Moon in celebration of how far you have come.
In our fast-paced hyper-connected world we have lost our curiosity. Instead, we put something into a Google search bar rather than listening to our bodies and minds. I hold my hands up to this one!!
If we feel something different mentally or experience a symptom physically we go to the internet for advice and support. The problem with this is that the results are very generic and we are also often provided with the worst-case scenario which isn’t great for maintaining low levels of anxiety and fear.
Imagine believing in yourself so much that you know the answers are on the inside and therefore allow yourself to look and explore with curiosity rather than fear.
The main difference in being curious about ourselves compared to doing a Google search for an answer is that it’s personal. By being curious we ask:
- “Why do I feel this way”
- “What has triggered this emotion or behaviour in me“
- “What did I do differently lately that has changed how I feel inside”
By being curious we are doing what the Moon wants us to do and that is to dive deeper, listen, communicate and learn about who we are and why we do what we do.
Yes, information at your fingertips is an amazing thing, and I’m all for innovation, education and technology, but Moon work is soul work and the internet is not the place to look when you want to connect with yourself on a soul level.
Adapting to the Vibrational Frequencies Around You
Can you recall the last time you felt in flow? If you don’t know what I mean, to be in flow is when things feel effortless, everything appears to be lining up as it should and we experience synchronicity in our lives.
Part of this flow stuff has to do with the energetic frequencies around us. These frequencies are emitted by the Moon, the Sun, the other planets in the Cosmos, the Earth we live on and her inhabitants…..just to name a few.
Finding flow can feel like a bit of a challenge, but as we learn to connect with the vibrational frequencies of the cosmos by connecting with the phases and cycle of the Moon, we notice patterns in habits and behaviours. From these patterns, we can learn how to find more flow in our lives.
Patterns tell us when to push forward, step back, communicate, create, get outside more, stay inside more, learn, explore, have an adventure and so much more.
Working with the Moon gives you a window into your internal world. She provides a structure which encourages you to be curious about who you are and what you do. She also encourages you to become to the best you can be in your life. So why wouldn’t you want to work more closely with her guidance?
The Mega Moon Intensive
On 14th September 2020, I will be running The Mega Moon Intensive for the second and final time this year.
The Mega Moon Intensive is an online eight-week programme that provides you with a structure to do the internal work while tracking the results so that you can make positive future decisions and choices as you work towards your goals and dreams.
Inside the programme we use:
- The themes and energy of the lunar cycle to provide the structure and themes for our journey
- A tracking system similar to bullet journaling to log information and identify patterns and details we would otherwise miss
- A process of mini daily journaling to explore feelings and emotions in real-time
- And then we bring this all together in something I call the Mega Moon Map where you learn more about yourself in eight weeks than you have all year so far!
There are a limited number of places available as I like to keep the group small and intimate for better results. And I’m hanging out in the private Facebook group and a members area with you every step of the way.
Every week for eight weeks you get access to new membership content in the form of videos and downloads, a live event to guide and support your journey, exercises and challenges to keep you moving forward and a supportive community to boost motivation and inspiration along the way.
