Inside this article, I talk about why I avoided the theme of the New Moon in Virgo and what this taught me about myself

We take a look at:

  • Why this one is such an issue for me
  • The past
  • The present
  • This is not the first time
  • My New Moon in Virgo feelings
  • My future and the Virgo New Moon

Avoidance is the best short-term strategy to escape conflict and the best long-term strategy to ensure suffering

Why I avoided the Virgo New Moon Theme

At the New Moon in Virgo on Thursday 17th September I just couldn’t face putting together my usual blog and podcast. This is the first time this has happened since the start of the year and I was astounded at my resistance to something I do like clockwork every month.

Why is this one such an issue for me?

The Past:

Virgo energy asks us to get organised and make life a little easier for ourselves. In the past, organising myself to within an inch of my life was a coping strategy for the stress and anxiety issues I was dealing with.

I also suffered from insomnia triggered by a number of traumatic events which meant that time management, being organised and setting strict boundaries were my go-to actions for acquiring stability and control. As I was only living on a couple of hours sleep a night all of this because essential for me to function in the world (and I use the word function lightly).

This is just a snapshot of why this is a delicate theme for me. It reminds me of a time when y life was a mess and I felt at my lowest point physically, mentally and spiritually. To cope I had created a set of rules and a system which helped me to fake it on the outside while I fell apart on the inside.

The Present:

These days I’m not so rigidly organised, but there is a reason why this intense organisation was a coping strategy for me. It was because my personality type naturally loves to live in a colour coded, neat and tidy world with well-presented life systems and support.

The Virgo Moon:

As I considered the theme of the Virgo New Moon I started to resist exploring where in my life I would benefit from better organisation. Things became scary because of the level of organisational control and rules I placed around myself and my life as a form of protection during my most challenging times had also become my prison.

Breaking free from this prison of protection has taken a lot of work, frustration and emotional turmoil. It’s hard to let go of the thing that kept me safe and sane for so long…..especially when I am naturally drawn to this form of control. It’s amazing how the thing I’d used to keep me safe became the thing that was keeping me stuck.

Not the First Time:

This isn’t the first time this issue with connecting with the theme of Virgo has cropped up for me. My resistance to writing a blog and recording a podcast all about the New Moon in Virgo this time around meant I looked for last years content for inspiration and guidance……only to find there was none. I had no idea that last year I’d avoided this whole theme too!

This was quite a shock to me as I didn’t even register it happening, but clearly this is a bigger issue than I first realised.

My Future with the New Moon in Virgo

Going forward, I’ve got quite a lot of unpacking to do here. I don’t want to avoid this New Moon year after year so I’ve added a reminder to myself in my Google calendar for a few weeks before next years New Moon in Virgo. The plan is to make time to explore the theme with grace and gentleness and move through what comes up for me during that time.

The first step in this whole process is acknowledgement. Last year I clearly didn’t join the dots on the issue and probably put my resistance down to some other life event going on at the time. But this year, the pattern is clear to see and now that I am aware of what’s going on I am able to prepare for and work with the theme when it comes around next time. I will also notice any forms of resistance that crop up around organisation as I move through months until that time.

What comes up for you with this one?

Do you have themes which you know you avoid?
